1. What kind of snacks are available for purchase?
Snacks are sold every day at the 9:45 AM recess. We sell a variety of snacks which are low fat.

2. What is Spirit Club Cupcake Sale?
Each month a different grade is asked to provide baked goods for the Cupcake Sale. Children may purchase these snacks for $.50 at recess time. If there are any leftovers they are sold at lunch. The money goes toward spirit club events like the Easter Egg Hunt.

3. What is Red and Green Day?
Red and Green Day is sponsored by the Spirit Club. For $.50 students are allowed to dress down in red and green to express their Christmas spirit.

4. How do La Salle students rank on standardized tests?
La Salle students' scores are highly competitive. In the past, eighth grade scores were among the top in Berks County.

5. What percentage of students continue on to Holy Name?
Approximately 90% of all La Salle graduates attend Holy Name High School.

6. How often do the students use computers?
Students are given formal computer class for one period each week. Teachers often take their students to the computer room to work on projects. In addition each classroom has at least 2 computers. The library also has computers available for student use.

7. What extracurricular activities are available?
La Salle Academy participates in many sports activities through the CYO program and Holy Name Youth Football program. Volleyball, field hockey, soccer, football, cheerleading, baseball, softball, basketball, ice hockey are just some examples.

8. How can I communicate with teachers?
La Salle Academy strongly encourages parents to communicate with teachers. Written notes, scheduled conferences and especially phone calls foster the "family feel" for which La Salle is noted. Test Folders, and Youngest and Only Folders which are sent home on Wednesdays, are also ways in which teachers communicate with parents.

9. How can I become involved in PTO?
Check out the PTO page for meeting dates. All parents are members of the PTO and are encouraged to attend.

10. How can I volunteer at school?
Parent and grandparent volunteers are a great asset to La Salle Academy. There are opportunities in the cafeteria, the library and at recess in which to volunteer. Please contact the office to let them know of your interest. Parents are sometimes needed for field trips. You may let your child's teacher know if you are available. The PTO provides homeroom parents for each classroom. La Salle Academy does require a background check and attendance at a "Protecting God's Children" program in order to work with the students.

11. Are there tuition scholarships available?
The Eastern Pennsylvania Scholarship Foundation application is available in the spring for the following academic year. The forms will be available on this website as well as in the La Salle Office. In addition each parish provides opportunities for scholarships. You may contact your pastor or the principal for further information. La Salle offers a SuperSaver program which allows you to save on tuition while purchasing your groceries.

12. What opportunities are available for challenging
my child?
La Salle offers an enrichment program for those students who qualify. Individual teachers can also provide challenging activities within the classroom.

13. Is La Salle competitive academically?
La Salle participates in the national Geography Bee, Reading Eagle Spelling Bee, Mathcounts, Mathletes, Pennsylvania Middle School Computer Fair, The Reading Berks Science and Engineering Fair and numerous Essay and Poetry Contests.

14 Do You require background checks for anyone in contact with the children?
Anyone who comes in contact with our children must complete the "Protecting God's Children" program mandated by the Diocese. We also require Child Abuse, and criminal background checks. Anyone employed by the school as of April 1, 2007 is required to obtain FBI Clearance as well

18. Is there a uniform exchange?
Yes, there is a uniform exchange. Parents are encouraged to donate gently loved, outgrown uniforms. Before you buy new uniforms check out the uniform exchange. Take what you can use. This not only helps our wallets but the environment too. What a great way to recycle!
